The Isle of Wight is only 22.5 miles from west to east and 13.5 miles from north to south. Making it very easy to explore the coastline, countryside and attractions during your stay. Unspoiled beaches, magnificent sunsets, and wonderful inland villages. Around half of the Island is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – sandstone and chalk cliffs cut by wooded “chines”, sandy bays, chalk downland, arable farmland, heathland, saltmarsh, mud flats and creeks.
"The overseas holidays just a ferry away."
With its spectacular coastline and unspoilt beaches, rolling hills with magnificent views, green countryside, historic buildings and welcoming pubs, the island makes a great location to explore on foot. Try the West Wight Heritage Trail (leaflets available from tourism centres). Beautifully illustrated trail maps are also available from Gift to Nature. Please take care and follow the Countryside Code.
The Isle of Wight is a cycling paradise that is home to some of the UK’s most varied terrain: lush velvet hills rolling into the sea, narrow lanes through tidy hedgerows, deep and mysterious green gullies, and the island’s most striking feature, the ridge of white chalk cliffs stretching across its breadth.
There are more than 500 miles of bridleways and cycle paths plus many hundreds more of quiet lanes, so the Isle of Wight is a year-round cycling haven.
Visit Isle of Wight and Wightlink have excellent downloadable cycle routes and cycle hire information. You can hire bicycles (including electric bikes) from Wight Cycle Hire
